Alexander Zamudio - Regional Director

Biography

Jose Alexander Zamudio (Alex) is the Eastern Regional Director at ICAN-B, where he leads a team of over 20 clinicians and oversees the treatment of more than 80 clients across the Inland Empire region (San Bernardino & surrounding cities; Riverside & surrounding cities; Moreno Valley; Ontario). Alex provides ongoing performance management to his team, ensuring high-quality implementation of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services. He is dedicated to fostering professional growth, promoting evidence-based practices, and improving client outcomes through innovative and individualized treatment plans.
Alex is currently a PhD student at Florida Institute of Technology, where his research focuses on extending the science of applied behavior analysis to the substance use population. He is developing a functional behavioral assessment tool designed to identify a precursor inventory, aiming to create more robust preventative intervention strategies for this population.
Alex earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Experimental Psychology with a concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis from The University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley in August 2016. His graduate thesis, titled “The Indelible Power of the Intraverbal: Expanding the Intraverbal Repertoire and Utilizing Conditioned Praise Words to Decrease Problem Behaviors of Typically Developing Students in Schools,” reflects his commitment to advancing ABA methodologies. He became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in February 2018.
Throughout his career, Alex has worked in a variety of settings, including clinic settings, in-home settings, residential facilities, school settings, community settings (e.g., grocery stores, movie theaters, bowling alleys, arcades), and state centers. He has treated individuals between the ages of 1.5 years to 45 years of age with a wide range of diagnoses, including autism spectrum disorder, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (all presentation types), Down syndrome, schizophrenia disorders, anxiety disorders, depression disorders, bipolar disorder (both presentation types), substance use, adjustment disorders, oppositional defiance disorder, disruptive mood dysregulation disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, pica, and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder. These experiences have shaped his expertise in tailoring ABA services to meet the unique needs of diverse populations.
In his leadership role at ICAN-B, Alex is committed to advancing the organization’s mission by introducing innovative, client-centered programs, enhancing service delivery models such as 1:1 and 2:1 interventions, and performing routine behavior systems analysis to improve the efficiency of the organization's processes as a whole.
Alex resides in Orlando, Florida, with his dog, Artemis, and continues to advocate for the integration of ABA in improving the quality of life for individuals of all ages.
