Diana De La Torre - Regional Director

Biography

As ICAN-B’s Western Regional Director, Diana De La Torre Orozco oversees the San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles, and Orange County regions as well as the Burbank and Long Beach School Districts. Diana began her clinical journey in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) as a behavior technician in 2011 following the completion of her bachelor's degrees in both psychology and Spanish. From an early age, she knew she wanted to dedicate her life to helping others with a focus in fortifying her cultural awareness to expand her support to folks of various ethnic backgrounds. Diana attributes this perspective from growing up in the San Fernando Valley to migrant parents from Guadalajara, Jalisco who have always instilled the values of community building and lending a helping hand. After her first year as a behavior technician, Diana was confident that she wanted to consult with her mentors to assess how to further pursue her education in ABA. Diana enrolled at the California State University of Los Angeles due to the program’s emphasis on the use of counseling strategies to work with various communities and the mentorship she would have to pioneers in the Dr. Wallace and Dr. Fryling. After successfully defending her thesis, “Improving Behavioral Flexibility with Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder,” Diana graduated with her M.S. in Counseling with an emphasis in ABA.
As a clinician, Diana has worked directly with clients and their families and mentored BCBA candidates as they navigate the complexities of supervised fieldwork. Diana’s experience spans a variety of settings, including in the home, community and schools; in each setting, Diana has prioritized collaboration with other professionals to ensure comprehensive and thorough support for the client. Diana has provided clinical support and consultation in this capacity from 2014-2023 and has since transition to supporting the growth of the ICAN-B Hive starting as an Assistant Clinical Director from 2023-2024 and now as a Western Regional Director since 2024.
Diana strives to continue to grow as a clinician and mentor in her role as a director and works close with the Eastern Regional Director and Executive Director of Clinical Services to embody client centered values and support, assess initiatives, evaluate staff support, fortify the process for future BCBAs, and create a welcoming Hive for all of its members. She is passionate about continuing her journey to address these areas and to empower new and seasoned BCBAs in their own clinical growth. She also strives to learn about other topics to further provide clinical consultation and is passionate about prioritizing clients’ assent, values, advocacy, puberty, and program planning in a way that’s mindful of their future. She is a member of America Association of Sexuality Educators and is pursuing her certification to become a Sexuality Educator.
